In her current role in the School of Education, University of Nottingham she supports university teachers (culturally, linguistically as well as disciplinary diverse) to reflect on their teaching practice and curriculum design with the aim of enhancing their students learning using a range of learning technologies. This is through our Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.
She is a chair of the Evaluating Learners Experiences of e-learning Special Interest Group (ELESIG). She leads their pilot scholar scheme designed for those members new to the learning technology field, those wanting to find ways to progress their careers as well as support those conducting research to develop and enhance their learner evaluation research design methodological competencies.
She is also an active peer reviewer for the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) annual conference and a current Conference Programme Committee member. This engagement helps her to keep in touch with current learner evaluation research concerns and support researchers position their work within the literature.
A passionate and prolific clinician, Prof. Dr. Narasimhan Bharadwaj is the Founder Director of Access® Dental Institute - Root Canal Center (Estd. 2001), a specialty-driven Dental Clinic with a Microscope Enhanced Root Canal Treatment & Training at Kilpauk – Chennai. The centre is affiliated with MAHSA University, Malaysia to conduct and certify the “Fellowship Certificate in Endodontics” (FCE) programme. He is in clinical practice for the last 20 years and has presently carved a niche for himself in the field of Microscopic Endodontics globally. Being the First person in India to install and use the Carl Zeiss Extaro 300 microscope in his practice, his fields of interest include complex re-treatment, instrument retrieval, etc. He holds two copyrights in the Original Invention category. First is the “Burrow Platform Technique” for broken (dental) instrument retrieval which is published in the prestigious Journal of Endodontics and for which he was given the highest award for research in India, known as “Fellow of Indian Society for Dental Research (ISDR)”. The second copyright is for modifying the focusing technique using Microscopes in Dentistry, known as the “REVERSE PARFOCALING” technique.
Now a Professor at the Department of Conservative & Endo at Saveetha Dental College Chennai, India, Dr. Narasimhan graduated with BDS & MDS from T.N. Dr. MGR Medical University. He was conferred the Best Outgoing Postgraduate Student Award (2004), by the Federation of Operative Dentistry of India (FODI) & the Indian Endodontic Society (IES). He is the Founder of the Faculty of MFM (Masters Fellowship in Micro-Endodontics), the first super specialty programme in Endodontics in India. Academically, he is an eminent speaker with over 400+ Invited Guest Lecture Deliberations Nationally and Internationally with 6 Original Scientific Best Paper Awards and has authored many indexed publications to his credit. Further, he is the Managing Trustee of Community Dental Clinic – Charitable Trust that is run primarily for the underprivileged with simultaneous clinical training to dentists.
Professor Yi-Hsin Yang received her PhD degree in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. She has worked in the field of oral oncology since 1996 as a faculty member at the College of Dental Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. She conducted several population-based studies in Taiwan on betel quid usage and the prevalence of oral cancer and potentially malignant disorders. She had numerous publications on areca nut/betel quid associated incidence, survival rates, and risk factors of oral cancer/OPMD. Her specialty is also in teaching and consulting on the application of statistical analysis in dental/medical research. Currently, she is based at the National Institute of Cancer Research, and National Health Research Institute, Taiwan. Her research interest is on real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) through the use of health administrative database and government database. Her focus includes analysis methodology and clinical research using a health database. In recognition of her expertise, she currently serves as an expert in many cancer control related committees in the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan.
Professor Reena Rachel John is the Associate Dean of Research and Scientific Affairs, and Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College, and Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem, India.
She graduated from Goa University, India in 1991 and completed her post-graduation in oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1995 from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. Her research interest took her further long and she was awarded the doctorate degree in 2020 from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research, Chennai.
Prof. Dr. Reena’s passion for education and teaching led her to be an active member of the Indian Academy of Dental Education apart from her memberships in professional bodies of oral and maxillofacial surgery. She has published more than 25 scientific papers in national and international journals. Prof. Dr. Reena was invited as a guest speaker in various state-level and national conferences and was awarded the Dr. Vinod Narayanan Memorial Researcher award in the 8th Annual Conference – PACE 2020 organised by the Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India.
Dr. Kathiravan Purmal graduated from the University of Malaya in 1993 where he obtained a diploma in general dental practice whilst maintaining an active dental practice in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. His thirst for orthodontic skills led him back to his alma mater to complete the residency programme in orthodontics in the year 2004. Subsequently, he obtained international recognition for orthodontic training by getting the MOrthRCS from Edinburgh, UK. Consequently, he also acquired several postgraduate qualifications in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has published more than 30 international journals and co-authored 2 books. He runs an 18-months part-time residency programme in orthodontics in Malaysia. He is also the founding president of the Malaysian Orthodontic Practitioners' Association (MOPA).
