KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Abdel Magid Hamouda is the Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Engineering, Qatar University. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), senior member of Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIE), USA, and Member of the Institute of Highway Transportation, UK and member of American Society for Engineering Education, ASEE, USA. He has published over 400 articles, of which over 200 are in well-reputed international journals, and has edited several conference proceedings. He is regularly invited as keynote and invited speaker for various conferences, seminars and workshops. He hold multiple US and Malaysian patents, during last five years, he and his team were granted five US Patents. His research focuses on engineering materials and design, quality and reliability engineering, artificial intelligence and process optimization as well as engineering education. He is currently managing research fund worth over US$ 1,000,000. His research has been funded by the Qatar National Research Fund, Qatar University, Shell Company, ExxonMobil, Maersk, Marubeni, UPM, MOSTI, among others.
Dr. Hamouda was the recipient of the (Silver award) 2nd place at the Arab Business Plan competition (among 3000 competitors) in Amman, Jordan. He and his team won Outstanding Paper Award in the Emerald Literati Awards for Excellence 2019 and 2020 for their papers published in Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education. He was honored with the prestige’s Takreem Scientific and Technological Achievement Award in 2010, this is highest award for scientific and technological achievement for Arab scientist globally. He won the Qatar University Merit Award for the years 2010, 2014 and 2020 (This makes him the first and only faculty in the university history to hold this merit award three times). Also, he was winner for QU Research Excellence Award in 2016 and QU Service Award 2021. Most recently, Dr. Hamouda was listed in Top 2% highly cited researcher in the world by Stanford University and Elsevier, USA (2020 and 2021).
Prof. Ir. Dr. C.W. Lim earned a bachelor's degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, a master's degree from National University of Singapore, and a doctorate from Nanyang Technological University. He worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland and the University of Hong Kong. He is currently a fellow of ASME, ASCE, EMI and HKIE, and a professor at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer. Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim teaches at various universities worldwide as a visiting professor. He is the Subject Editor of the Journal of Sound and Vibration, and Applied Mathematical Modelling, Joint-Editor for Journal of Mechanics of Material and Structures, Managing Editor (Asia-Pacific Region) for Journal of Vibration Engineering & Technologies, Associate Editor for International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, and also on the editorial board of some other top-ranked international journals. He co-authored "Symplectic Elasticity" with W.A. Yao and W.X. Zhong, and it was listed as one of the best-selling Engineering Mechanics titles by the publisher, World Scientific in Engineering Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering. He has over 350 international journal papers to his credit with over 12000 citations and one of his papers was awarded the IJSS most cited article from 2004 to 2008. In 2009, he was awarded Top Referees, Proceedings A, The Royal Society.
Recently, Professor Lim was awarded the prestigious 2020 JN Reddy Medal as a recognition “for significant and original contributions to vibration of plates and shells, smart piezoelectric structures, nano-mechanics, and symplectic elasticity”.His area of expertise are theory of plates and shells, dynamics of smart piezoelectric structures, nano-mechanics, metamaterials and symplectic elasticity.
Prof. Ali Selamat holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in IT from Teesside University, U.K. and M.Sc. in Distributed Multimedia Interactive Systems from Lancaster University, U.K. in 1997 and 1998, respectively. He received a Dr. Eng. degree from Osaka Prefecture University, Japan, in 2003. Prof. Ali Selamat is currently a Dean of Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), which is an educational institute that is established by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia to enhance Japanese Oriented Engineering Education in Malaysia and Asia with the support from the Government of Japan through Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) together with 29 Japanese University Consortium (JUC). Before that, he was a Chief Information Officer (CIO) and a Director of Communication and Information Technology Director, UTM. He is currently elected as a Chair of IEEE Computer Society, Malaysia Section under the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, and a Malaysia Engineering Deans Council member. He was previously assuming the position of research Dean on Knowledge Economy Research Alliance, UTM. He was a principal consultant of Big Data Analytics, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia 201, and currently, a member of Malaysia Artificial Intelligence Roadmaps (2020-2021) and a keynote speaker in many international conferences. He was a visiting professor at Kuwait University and few other universities in Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.
Currently, he is a visiting professor at Hradec-Kralove University, Czech Republic, and Kagoshima Institute of Technology, Japan. Currently, he is serving as the Editorial Boards of International Journal of Knowledge-Based Systems Elsevier, Netherlands, International Journal of Information and Database Systems (IJIIDS) under Inderscience Publications, Switzerland, and Vietnam Journal of Computer Science under Springer Publications. He is the Program co-chair of IEA/AIE 2021: The 34th International Conference on Industrial, Engineering and Other Applications of Applied Intelligent Systems in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His research interests include data analytics, digital transformations, knowledge management in higher educations, key performance indicators, cloud-based software engineering, software agents, information retrievals, pattern recognition, genetic algorithms, neural networks, and soft-computing.
