Professor Dato' Dr Hj Abdul Razak Muttalif

Dr Razak obtained his medical qualification in 1982 from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Subsequently, he acquired his master in internal medicine and master degree in respiratory medicine from the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, United Kingdom, in 1995. During his distinguished career, Dr Razak has been an invited speaker at numerous symposia, continuing medical education programmed and conferences across Malaysia. He has delivered more than one hundred lectures on various topics, including asthma, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and pulmonary embolism. Dr Razak headed the medical team for the Haj mission for 20 years. A keen researcher, Dr Razak has presented several papers at national and international conferences. His work has also appeared in numerous international and Malaysian journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Chest, Respirology, Journal of Public Health, and Malaysian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He had participated actively in several clinical trials and epidemiological studies. After serving the Ministry of Health, Malaysia for 35 years, he joined MAHSA University in 2017 as lecturer and Professor of Medicine
Prof Dr. Manickam Ravichandran

Prof M. Ravichandran obtained his M.Sc. Medical Microbiology from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, gained his PhD in Biotechnology from Anna University, Chennai, India. His research interests are Human lymphatic filariasis, genetically engineered cholera vaccine and formulation, COVID-19 vaccine and drug development, molecular diagnostics and phage therapy. He has 86 publications in international journals with 2757 citations and an h-index of 31. He has supervised 55 postgraduate students and examined 65 postgraduate students locally and internationally. He has filed 15 patents. On product development, he successfully technology transferred EZDNA Amp diagnostic technology and commercialized three products on diagnostics. He has written over 21 articles in the press and is a New Strait Times (NST) columnist. Previously, Prof Ravi was the former Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor of AIMST University, Malaysia. He was also the Chairman of the Covid-19 Taskforce at AIMST University. He holds director positions at Vax Biotech Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, a spin-off company of his cholera vaccine patent. He has been awarded 50 national and international awards for academic and research excellence, including Ideas Inventions New Products - (IENA), Nuremberg, Germany; International Exhibition of Inventions: New Technologies and Products, Geneva; and National Innovation Award, Malaysia. He was an associate and Committee member of Top RESEARCH SCIENTISTS MALAYSIA (TRSM) of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). He holds an Honorary Professor position at AIMST University and is the Chief Scientific Officer of MyGenome, ALPS Global Holding, Malaysia.
Dr. Wan Ariffin Abdullah
MAHSA University as a Senior Professor of Paediatrics
Dr Wan Ariffin obtained his MBBS from UMMC in 1978, MRCP Paeds (UK) in 1985 and was awarded FRCP (Edin) in 1993, FAMM in 2000, FRCPCH (UK) in 2011 and FASc in 2016. His first job as a paediatrician was in HUSM (1985-1992) where he served as Head of Department of Paediatrics (1987-1992) and where he started the first Paediatric Oncology service outside of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1987. In 1992 he moved back to Kuala Lumpur where he became an Associate Professor (1992) and Professor (2007) in Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Unit in UMMC. He headed the unit in 1998-2005 and subsequently became the Head of the Department of Paediatrics in 2005-2007. One year after retiring from UMMC in 2017, he joined MAHSA University as a Senior Professor of Paediatrics until now. Dr Wan Ariffin sharpened his skill in paediatric oncology with short fellowship stints in some of the top cancer centres in various countries: Australia (Royal Children Hospital , Melbourne, Apr-June, 1987); Germany (Paediatric Cancer Centres in Hannover , May-June,1991, and in Cologne, Stuttgart, Munster and Berlin , Apr-June, 1995); USA (Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Mar-July,1997 and St Jude Children Research Hospital, Memphis in May, 2000), Japan (University of Tokyo Medical School in Mar, 2000); Scotland (Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh in Nov, 2004). Dr Wan Ariffin intermittently took breaks from Oncology by volunteering as a paediatrician in Kosovo (June/July 1999); Mogadishu, Somalia (Jan 2012); Cox’s Bazaar Rohingya Refugee Camps, Bangladesh (Jan 2018); Angkor Hospital for Children (June 2001) and Laos Children Hospital for Children (April 2018). His extracurricular appointments include President of MPA (1998-1999), President of ASEAN Paediatric Federation (2000-2002), President of Malaysian Society of Paediatric Oncology, (2000-2001), Chairman of Malaysian Wish Society (2016-2022). During his 40 -year career as an academician/clinician, Dr Wan Ariffin has co-authored more than 100 papers. He was named by Asia Pacific Paediatric Association to be Malaysian Outstanding Asian Paediatrician,2016.
Associate Professor Dr. Vinod Balasubramaniam
Associate Professor (Molecular Virology) at Monash University Malaysia
Dr. Vinod Balasubramaniam is a trained molecular virologist, currently an Associate Professor at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Vinod obtained his PhD from Monash University and completed his postdoctoral training in Infectomics of Influenza and Flaviviruses at the Department of Microbiology, Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York under the world renowned Prof. Adolfo Garcia Sastre. He has established his own research niche focusing on “crosstalk between host cellular factors and viruses”, specifically, how host cells interact and the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathophysiologic process of virus infection, especially RNA viruses with pandemic potential” (Influenza, Coronavirus, ZIKA, Dengue, Chikungunya and Enteroviruses). Insights into the host's responses to viruses would help define targets for therapeutic intervention. Dr. Vinod has published in various high impact journals in areas of infectious disease pathogenesis, vaccines, therapeutics and has been awarded various external grants from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and UK universities.
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Mahyiddin Ramli
Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology, and Director for Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP).
: Dr. Muhammad Mahyiddin Ramli is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology, and currently serving as the Director for Institute of Nano Electronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). He obtained his master’s degree (M.Eng.Sc) from University College Cork, Republic of Ireland. He then received his PhD from Advanced Technology Institute (ATI), University of Surrey, United Kingdom in Nanotechnology. He used to work in various places such as Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Tyndall National Institute in Republic of Ireland and Nanorian Technologies Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia, before joining UniMAP. He has experienced in synthesizing graphene, graphene oxide and synthetic graphite. He is also involved in bamboo charcoal production used in various applications including supplement products. Beside an expert in structural materials, he is also an expert in nanodevice research including the biomedical sensors, gas sensors and solar cells. He is also involves in the research of rubber/polymer nanocomposites, IC fabrication process. To date, he has obtained more than RM 6.2 mill research grants, published more than 150 technical papers and 3 books, filed 3 patents, supervised and co-supervised more than 20 masters and PhD students.
Prof. Dr. Azrul Azlan Hamzah

: Azrul Azlan Hamzah is a Professor of Micro-Nanoelectromechanical Systems (MEMS/NEMS) and currently the Director of Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He received his BSc. from the University of California at Berkeley, USA in manufacturing engineering in 2000 and PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in microelectromechanical systems in 2008. His research interests are graphene synthesis and technology, bioMEMS, artificial kidney, biomedical devices, Lab-on-Chip, micro/nano energy, MEMS technology and MEMS packaging. He leads several projects funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI) and Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE) in development of MEMS and bioMEMS devices. He is also led the HiCoE (MEMS for artificial kidney) project and involved in NanoMITE (vertically aligned graphene) project under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. He has published more than 200 international journals and technical papers. He was the auditor and current committee member for Malaysia Nanotechnology Association (MNA) and senior member of Electron Devices Society of IEEE Malaysia Section (SMIEEE).
