A 1982 graduate of Cardiff University (UK), Dato’ Dr. Musa Mohd. Nordin is a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist at Damansara Specialist Hospital, Kuala Lumpur. He is a Clinical Professor of Paediatrics at KPJ International University College. Since 1999, he has been serving on various international advisory boards related to vaccines and immunisation. He is a founding member of the Asian Strategic Alliance on the Prevention of Pneumococcal Disease (ASAP) and Immunise4Life. He is the Chief Editor of FIMA Yearbook and sits on the advisory boards of MIMS Paediatrics and the International Journal of Human & Health Sciences. His latest book “Immunisation Controversies – What you really need to know” has been translated into four languages.

Professor Dr. Shahrul Bahyah Kamaruzzaman is a Consultant Geriatrician at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) where she practiced for the past 20 years. She was heading the Geriatric unit for several years until she was appointed as the Head of Medicine in 2018. During this period, she chaired the National Postgraduate Medical Curriculum writing team for Internal Medicine. This led to her current appointment as the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya.
Prof. Shahrul returned to Malaysia in 2002 after her geriatric training in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom and served as a Senior Lecturer in the country’s first Geriatric unit. She played a key role in the training and refining of the geriatric multidisciplinary team as well as the acute geriatric care services at UMMC. She embarked on her PhD in 2006 at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and was awarded a PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health in July 2010. Her thesis was on the assessment of frailty in community-dwelling older adults for which she developed and validated a weighted Frailty index in the British older population.
Apart from frailty, her research interests lie in Sarcopenia, Falls, Dementia as well Ageing in HIV populations. Her training in both geriatrics and epidemiology has been useful in her research activities as a founder member of the Ageing and Age-Associated Disorders Research Group in the University of Malaya as well as the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine. She is currently the President of the Malaysian Healthy Aging Society and Deputy President of the Gerontology Association of Malaysia. All these various clinical and academic roles have helped cement her commitment to the development of clinical services, ageing research, and medical education in Malaysia.

Dr. Balvinder Singh Gill is a Consultant Public Health Medicine Specialist with extensive experience in the surveillance, control and research of infectious diseases. He served at various levels with the Ministry of Health Malaysia and currently heads the Special Resource Centre at the Institute for Medical Research, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Dr. Balvinder graduated with a Medical degree in 1994, a Master’s in Public Health in 2002 and a Master's of Infectious Diseases in 2008 at The Marshall Centre for Infectious Diseases Research and Training, University of Western Australia, under the Directorship of Professor Barry Marshall, a Nobel Prize Laureate in Medicine. Dr. Balvinder then completed a PhD study in 2012 on the factors contributing to the dengue epidemic in Malaysia by analysing the epidemiology and mathematical modelling, laboratory diagnostic methods, and the molecular epidemiology of the disease. His PhD thesis was a key to the implementation of dengue diagnostics using NS1 testing for the National Dengue Surveillance Programme in Malaysia.
Dr. Balvinder headed the formation of the COVID-19 modelling team at the National Institutes of Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia which was credited for forecasting the COVID-19 pandemic trends in Malaysia. In addition, Dr. Balvinder spearheaded the development of the Information and Documentation sector which serves as the centre for informatics, data management and repository for the Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia. He serves as a consultant epidemiologist for WHO-TDR on Dengue Early Warning Response Systems and The National Environmental Health Action Plan (NEHAP).
Dr. Balvinder’s research work focuses on the Epidemiology and Surveillance of Infectious Diseases with key interests in statistical modelling, spatial-temporal disease analysis and molecular epidemiology. He is a member of numerous national technical working groups and has contributed to numerous national technical papers, national guidelines, peer-reviewed publications, and most recently as the Editor for the National Case Definitions of Infectious Diseases in Malaysia. He is also a three-time recipient of The Ministry of Health Excellent Service Award.

He obtained his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Madras, India and has postdoctoral experiences in South Africa, South Korea, and Ireland. Professor Dr. Mustafa Bodrick is a Consultant Advisor to the Health Academy at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in Riyadh. Professor Mustafa Bodrick has delivered 76 oral international and local scientific presentations and keynote addresses at International Nursing and Healthcare Conferences and Qualitative Research Conferences around the world. He has co-supervised seven doctorates and 31 masters’ candidates. His current research interest is twofold on post Covid-19 education strategies and patient experiences during and after the pandemic.

Professor Dr. Suresh Kumar is the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Grants & Publications) of Bharat Institute of higher education and research (BIHER). He has completed B.Sc Microbiology with a gold medal, M.Sc (Life science specialisation in Biomacromolecules), and Ph.D. in Industrial Microbiology. He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience. He was working as a Professor at University Putra Malaysia, before joining BIHER. He has been a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at National Central University and National Taiwan University, Taipei-Taiwan in the fields of yeast genetics and stem cells. His professional positions include Senior Research Executive (Fermentation of Microbial drugs) in IPCA Laboratory Ltd., Mumbai, India, R&D officer (Fermentation of Microbial drugs) in Gujarat Themis Biosyn Ltd.), Gujarat, India, and a Senior Research fellow (fermentation and purification of enzymes) in the University of Delhi, South Campus, New Delhi, India.
Professor Suresh recognised the potential of stem cell research and engaged in the development of multiple culture techniques using polymers and optimisation of the microenvironment to yield a higher percentage of stem cells and control direct cell differentiation. Many of his research outcomes have been published in high-impact-factor journals such as Progress in Materials Science (IF: 39.580), Progress in Polymer Science (IF: 29.190), Trends in Biotechnology (IF: 19.536), and Biomaterials (IF: 12.479). His current research is on nanomaterials and biomaterials, while he has published more than 170 articles in high-impact journals and he hauls one patent.
As a result of his achievements, he has been an acting consultant for various universities including King Saud University, Jouf University, Geomatika University College, etc., and a visiting professor to various reputed institutes. He is an Editor in reputed journals like PLoS One and Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. He has been awarded various best researcher and best service awards from UPM, Malaysia. Datin Ranuga Devy graduated from the University of Wolverhampton, UK in 1995 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an advocate and solicitor in 1997. She has been practicing as an advocate and solicitor in several legal firms. Besides being a lawyer, she has a Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She had moved out of nutrition and dietetics and took the initiative to read law while caring for a home and three school-going children. She has a passion for continuous learning and personal growth and a strong desire to excel. She is actively involved in social activities and helps to organise conferences and talks for the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society. She has presented several papers concerning medical laws at medical conferences and has run workshops for the Medical Profession both locally and internationally.
Datin Ranuga has been invited as a guest lecturer to the Faculty of Medicine at University Putra Malaysia to lecture the medical students on legal issues of elderly care. She also lectures the Occupational Therapy students at Perdana University as a guest lecturer. She was the Secretary of the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society and was involved in organising the 1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing, held in March 2012 in Malaysia, and subsequently in South Africa in 2015 and in Turkey in 2018.
Currently, she is involved in organising the 4th World Congress on Healthy Ageing in Belfast in 2021, which had to be postponed due to the pandemic. For continued service to society, she now runs her own law practice as a sole proprietor with the name and style of Ranuga & Associates.

Dr. Umakhanth Venkatraman Girija is an Associate Professor in Immunology. He is a D.Phil. (University of Oxford) educated specialist in Molecular Immunology and Biotechnology with over 20 years of professional experience that includes teaching, research, academic service and industrial research.

Dr. Christine Clark is the Chief Executive and the visionary founder of Kalandra Group, a family-based organisation focussing on improving the lives of older people, not just in New Zealand but around the world. During her doctoral studies and from personal experience, Dr. Christine saw that older people deserve much more than they are getting and that is currently available. Kalandra was determined to do something about this as well as to improve education, develop training that would be different, and source products that are normally not affordable.
Dr. Christine has been the Chair of several boards and associations that advocate for improving the lives of communities, strengthening education, and supporting vulnerable people. She has been a guest speaker on multiple forums, encouraging people to collaborate and look for opportunities because she passionately believes that there is always strength by working together.
A Registered Nurse, and a Doctor of Health Science, Dr. Christine is the mother of two daughters both of whom work in Kalandra, grandmother to Spencer aged 7 and Savannah and Lucas (twins) aged 1, and pseudo mum to two dogs and two cats. In her spare time, Christine enjoys half-marathons completing over 50 of these, and has been known to race cars and own a Harley.

Dr. Ganesh Kumar Mani is a Research Professor at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea. He completed his PhD at the Centre for Nanotechnology & Advanced Biomaterials and School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, SASTRA University, Thanjavur, India in 2015. He also won the “Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award” for his doctoral thesis work. After his Ph.D. Dr. Ganesh spent 5 years in the Micro/Nano Technology Centre, Tokai University, Japan as Post-Doctoral Fellow. During his stay in Japan, he got one of the most prestigious post-doctoral fellowships by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He has also participated and organised national and international conferences and presented posters in several countries.
As a part of his research, Dr. Ganesh visited various countries like Canada, Germany, Sweden, Thailand, and the USA to present his research results. He is also one of the inventors of two patents titled "Low Concentration Ammonia Vapour Sensor & Acetaldehyde Sensor Using ZnO Nanoplatelets. He received awards including “Best Annual Presentation Award”, “Young Researchers Poster Award”, and “Young Scientist Award” from several international societies. He published over 70 research papers in reputed international journals with high impact factors. He has received a grant of nearly 50,000 US dollars for his research work.
His current research interests include fabrication and development of nanostructured (Nanospheres, Nanorods, Nanowires, Nanoplatelets, Nanosheets) thin film-based gas/chemical sensors for predicting food quality, microfluidic sensors, developing thin film-based pH sensors for biomedical applications, and developing painless microneedles for multifunction applications.

Dr. Christopher O’Kane (Chris) completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at Ulster University achieving a first-class honors degree. As part of his undergraduate course, he also undertook a co-terminus multidisciplinary placement within the biomedical laboratories of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (Northern Ireland). This gained Chris experience in the pathology disciplines of immunology, medical microbiology, cellular pathology, and clinical biochemistry. For this, he was awarded a diploma in professional practice (pathology) with commendation and a certificate of competence from the IBMS and became an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
After spending some time working in the medical microbiology department of the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Chris returned to Ulster University to complete his PhD study at the Biomedical Sciences Research Institute (BMSRI) on the rational design and assembly of non-canonical DNA structures, in particular, G-Wires formed from quadruplex DNA. This allowed him to develop his interest in nanotechnology and photonics towards the development of biomedical nanodevices. Chris then took on a postdoctoral research position at Ulster focusing on nanoscience techniques for cancer therapeutics before joining Anglia Ruskin University in September 2016.
Dr. Chris is currently the Course Leader for BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science and Deputy Course Leader for MSc Biomedical Science (Distance Learning) at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. He is the internal examiner for the dual award of BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science at MAHSA University, Malaysia, and the External Examiner for BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science at the University of Greenwich and the University of Huddersfield. Chris is an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Institute of Biomedical Science. His research interests lie in the field of nanotechnology, particularly towards applications in diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance, and cancer chemotherapeutics.

Dr. Sangeeta Kaur is an academic, who teaches Epidemiology, Public Health Medicine, Health Behaviour, and Patient Safety and actively coordinates community health fieldwork in semi-urban and semi-rural areas in Malaysia. My passion has been in development work and research using evidence concerning ecological issues in human life. Over the last twelve years, she coordinated national and regional projects on public health development work, provided technical guidance to government and civil societies at the national level, and managed federal programmes that contributed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
With a firm belief in ensuring knowledge transfer through teaching or capacity-building activities, Dr. Sangeeta has facilitated activities that enhance knowledge on improving efficiency and efficacy at an operational level of the medical profession. The organisations that she has worked with on consulting assignments include the Alliance group, AusAID, ANPUD, the Global Fund, USAID, UNICEF, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Dr. Sangeeta has a Psychology undergraduate degree, a graduate certificate in Anthropology and Sociology, and a PhD in Medicine. Her PhD thesis focused on using the Theory of Triadic Influence to map out youth substance use patterns within three ethnic groups in Malaysia. Her recent research interest is in vulnerabilities around marginalised people’s well-being. With the complexity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, she has started exploring the social integration approach concentrated on roles and activities toward a more network-orientated system catered for the older population. She is also working on enhancing primary interventions focused on a holistic system that helps to manage non-communicable diseases within private and public settings.

Dr. Abdi Osman is a Postgrad Lecturer cum Academic Integrity Officer and Pebble Pad Coordinator at the School of Health of Federation University Australia. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow of Austin Health, Victoria, Australia. Earlier he was the Director of Clinical Nursing for the Ministry of National Guard, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Abdi first obtained a Nursing Diploma from Kenya Medical Training College. Then he moved to Australia and got a Bachelor of Nursing (Post Registration) from Monash University, a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing from the University of Sydney, Masters of Public Health & Tropical Medicine from James Cook University, Professional Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) from La Trobe University, and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching from Deakin University.
