In this keynote, Dr. Zahiruddin will explore how AI can assist educators in creating engaging learning experiences, streamlining delivery workflows, and exploring innovative teaching practices in a way that’s practical and inclusive.
Drawing from personal experience, including a recent AI-assisted curriculum review project for UM’s Building Surveying programme, he will share insights into how AI helps to align academic programs with various accreditation and industry needs. Dr. John Nesan is the director of CTARS, a company which specializes in 3D designing and printing of implants and guides for the dental, cranium, and maxillofacial region located in India, the Middle East, and Africa. CTARS is the first unit in India to commercially start Virtual Surgical Planning for Orthognathic surgery and to design and print zygomatic implant guides. Dr. John’s passion is to bring the best in technology to patients in India. He is actively promoting the applications of 3D printing to the healthcare community. He has delivered over 100 lectures on technology-based healthcare applications.
Synopsis of Lecture: 3D printing or additive manufacturing plays a very important role in every aspect of healthcare today, and especially in dentistry, directly benefiting many specialties. This lecture will illustrate the various specialties of dentistry where digital technology is used and is bringing about a change in the life of the dentist and the patients.
Professor Dr. Mohd Yusmiaidil Putera Mohd Yusuf is a Professor in Forensic Odontology and Dentomaxillofacial Imaging at Universiti Teknologi MARA and an Adjunct Visiting Professor at University of Turin, Italy. He is currently the Director of the Institute of Pathology, Laboratory and Forensic Medicine (I-PPerForM), a Centre of Excellence focusing on a multidisciplinary approach for forensic identification and biological profiling with emphasis on utilizing emerging technologies.
A man of many hats, Professor Mohd Yusmiaidil is also serving as Chairman for the Patient Complaint Bureau under the auspices of the Malaysian Dental Association, where he and his bureau members mediate issues and disputes that arise between both patients and clinicians. He is a member of the International Forensic Odontology Sub-Working Group (INTERPOL Disaster Victim Identification Working Group).
His primary research activities revolve around skeletal and dental age assessments. He developed dental age prediction models and constructed a new maturity scale of teeth developmental staging based on the Malaysian population. His team won the prestigious Kreso Glavac Special Innovation Award and gold award in MTE and IIDEX, respectively, for the automated Forensic Dental Age Estimation Lab (F-DentEst Lab) project. He has a deep interest in automated diagnostics by means of machine learning and emerging technologies.

This informative exploration highlights the benefits of digital technology when it comes to embracing machine learning and artificial intelligence in dentistry. Given the centrality of diagnostic imaging in dental practice, the adoption of digital technology is essential to prioritise the patient’s best interest, a fundamental principle of clinical ethics. This talk also addresses the challenges of transitioning from established practices to modern technologies, highlighting the growing need for adaptation in a rapidly evolving field. Ultimately, the contemporary works on digital dentistry are discussed to provide insights into things that were never an option in traditional dental practice.
Bio: By incorporating creativity into his career, Dr. Chong Bo Dhi turns his passion into a profession by expressing art in dentistry. His love for Aesthetic Dentistry started even before graduating from MAHSA University in 2018. He is a strong advocate for peer sharing and believes that one grows through teaching and continuous learning. Having said that, Dr. Chong is not foreign to conducting short lectures and hands-on learning sessions with his colleagues. Currently, Dr. Chong is practicing at a private dental practice in Ipoh, Malaysia.
